WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE

This course is designed for:

  • Professionals who participate in projects but do not hold a formal project management role.
  • Team members, coordinators, analysts, or administrators who want to better understand the project management process.
  • Those curious about project management who are not yet ready to commit to a full foundations course.
  • Anyone seeking a quick, practical orientation to PM terminology and structure.

WHAT YOU LEARN

  1. Understand what a project is and how it differs from ongoing operations, using the PMBOK® definition as a guide;
  2. Get familiar with the most common project management terms and definitions — from Work Breakdown Structures to Risk Registers;
  3. Walk through the 5 project phases (Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Control, and Closing) and what happens in each;
  4. Learn the basics of the Project Charter and why the Initiation phase sets the tone for project success;
  5. Explore project management frameworks, including Predictive (Waterfall) and Adaptive (Agile) approaches.

WHAT YOU GAIN

  • 90 minutes of in-person or virtual instructor-led training on core project management concepts
  • Practical exposure to key project tools including the Project Charter and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

Participants who complete one of our certification preparation programs (a specific course listed as completing requirements to qualify for a particular certification exam) and do not pass the certification exam on their first attempt may attend one future session of the same certification preparation course at no additional cost, provided the class is not full and seats remain available. This policy reflects SOAR’s commitment to learner achievement and continuous professional growth.

Note: Verification of the first exam attempt failure is required to qualify for a course retake. This Course Retake Policy only applies to courses listed as completing the requirements to qualify for a certification exam.
